Ginger-Simmered Chicken Wings

Easy cooking with just one ingredient.

Ingredients

  • Chicken wings 300g
  • Ginger 20g
  • Japanese sake (Shaoxing wine will give it a more Chinese feel) 1 tablespoon
  • Mirin 2 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce 2 tablespoons
  • Honey 2 tablespoons
  • Spring onion (green part optional)


How to make it

  1. Please preheat over medium heat for about 30 seconds before cooking.
  2. Heat Taihaku sesame oil, place the chicken wings skin-side down, and sear both sides lightly.Add water and bring to a boil.
  3. Add grated ginger, sake, honey, mirin, and soy sauce.
  4. Reduce to low heat, cover with aluminum foil as a drop lid, and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Turn the chicken wings occasionally and simmer over high heat for 5 minutes.
    Then, reduce the sauce until about one-third remains (around 5 minutes).
  6. Finely shred the green part of a leek and add on top as desired.
